The first rendition of Formation is a piece for solo acoustic guitar. The (A) track is the purest representation of the Formation project and provides the core material upon which both subsequent tracks are built.
In an attempt to test my compositional model, this piece was written in its entirety on a single instrument, meant for only one performer. This method is largely a departure from the typical Sollunar approach, which normally focuses on texture and interplay in a multi-instrumental arrangement. The primary challenge here was to create enough interest in a solo performance to exist as a standalone entity.
