Track (C) is notably unlike other versions of Formation, forgoing the structure and rhythmic character of the original piece in favor of deconstructing and re-contextualizing the melodic lines and harmonic textures. While the previous tracks had a generally organic tone to them, the (C) track introduces a pronounced synthesizer presence and overall more ambient approach. Additionally, samples were pulled from previous tracks in order to pitch, stretch, and process them into new shapes.
True reinterpretation was the mission here. Rather than building over a foundation, the original work was stripped down to its components to recombine into a work that sounds both new and still evocative of the original piece.
